Why do I need French Bulldog insurance?
Every pet owner will wish for a long, happy and healthy life for their pet – and one untroubled by health problems, from arthritis to zoonotic viruses. However, the reality is that many of our pets will need treatment or intervention at some point in their life.
And, sadly, many of these treatments will be expensive. If surgery is involved, in particular, costs can quickly mount up into four figures.
Now, many pet owners won’t be budgeting for large outgoings such as these, and may get an unpleasant surprise when the medical bills come in.
If your beloved pet is experiencing an illness that’s giving them pain or discomfort, or recovering from an accident, you will want to give them your full attention – not worry about money.
Having an insurance policy in place will mean that you have some protection against big, unplanned outgoings like a bill from the vets.
French Bulldog insurance may, in short, save you money in the long term.

Common Frenchie health problems
There are some health problems that French Bulldogs can develop throughout their lifetime. Making sure you have insurance can help cover the cost of vet bills for these conditions should they occur.
Brachycephalic Obstructive airway Syndrome (BOAS) – This is essentially a narrowing of the airways or nostrils caused by the way these dogs are bred. Naturally dogs would have long muzzles to enhance their breathing and sense of smell. Mistaken for snoring, noises, heavy breathing and excessive panting are all signs your pug might be struggling with this condition. It’s imperative you seek veterinary advice and attend frequent check-ups to ensure its not worsening.
Eye Ulcers – Ulcers are common in pugs and all breeds with bulging eyes. Symptoms can be anything from weepy eyes to a red cornea. If you have any concerns, please consult a vet for further advice.
Skinfold Infections – Again, due to the structure of the Pug’s muzzle, they naturally have more folds of the skin and if not kept clean and dry, can develop infections that can spread to the eyes and mouth. You should always ensure these areas are kept clean and if there is any sign of infection, consult your vet.
